International Women's Day March 8th 2017

The theme for International Women'sDay  from the UN this year focuses on :

" Women in the Changing World of Work.  Planet 50 - 50 by 2030"

Unlocking the full potential of women in the world of work requires action to:

-  bridge the gender pay gap that stands currently at 24% globally

-  address the gender deficit in care work

-  close the gender gap in leadership, entrepreneurship in so many professions

In 2017 women and girls are planning to celebrate International Women's Day in every possible way: IWD  is celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements; the University of Manchester is  highlighting the contribution of women in all departments of the university; the carrier Air India set a record by operating the world's longest all women flight fro Delhi to San Francisco  Magnificent efforts in the face of the World Economic Forum's prediction that the gender gap won't close entirely until 2186!

BFWG  members - we look forward again to hearing about your contributions in your LAs and through your involvement with your Independent members.
