Meet the BFWG Management Team 2010/11
President
Marianne Haslegrave MA
Marianne is currently President of BFWG. She is also the President of the International Federation of University Women, 2010 to 2013.
Having studied history for her BA and MA degrees, now semi-retired, she still spends part of her time working as the Director of the Commonwealth Medical Trust (Commat) and as a consultant on sexual and reproductive health and the right to health. She also served as a consultant on Partnerships for Sexual and Reproductive Health and the MDGs with the UN Millennium Project and has been a member of UK government delegation at the Fifth Asian Conference on Population in Bangkok in December 2002 and at International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo in 1994.
Vice-President and President-Elect
Jenny Morley BSc(Hons)
Jenny is a physicist and educator. Her professional experience has included being Head of Science at a city academy, lecturing at a university in the USA, tutoring for the Open University since its inception, and teaching in a girls’ school where she encouraged her students to enter the SET arenas.
She has previously served a three-year term as Vice-President (1988-1991), during which time she helped in recruitment and fundraising initiatives. She has been the President of two Local Associations and has served on the Executive Committee including as a Regional Representative. A delegate to many IFUW Conferences, all over the world, she ran a workshop at the last 2007 International Meeting.
In any spare time she enjoys sailing, travelling, theatre and opera.
Vice-Presidents
Su Allen PhD BSc MRSC
Su is a practising secondary school teacher and Head of Chemistry at a Girl’s School in the Midlands. She holds a joint honours degree in biochemistry and chemistry and a PhD in physical chemistry, both from the University of Salford. In the promotion of science, Su is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a participant in a new initiative for Chemistry teachers in the region.
She is also a committee member of Nottingham Association of Women Graduates.
Jasmit Kaur Phull JP BSc (Hons) BMS
Jasmit is a Magistrate and serves as well as the President of Lincoln and Lincolnshire Association of Women Graduates. She is also active in the Soroptimist International as the Extension & Membership Officer and Vice-President of the Midland East Region
Graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Biology she gained a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a Medical School. Now, a qualified biomedical scientist, she works at the Lincoln County Hospital in histopathology.
Anna Frost MA, BA (Hons)
Anna graduated with a BA(Hons) degree in Modern Languages and also studied at King’s College, London for a Masters in European Historical and Literary Studies.
Anna has had a varied career in the private, public and voluntary sectors including General Secretary/Director of a London-based international charity and NGO and has held archive and administrative posts at the University of London and the Leukaemia Research Fund. Anna was President of the London Association (2002-2005) and was Chair of the 2007 IFUW Triennial Conference Committee.
