Meet the BFWG Management Team 2012/13
President
Jenny Morley BSc(Hons)
Jenny is a physicist and educator. Her professional experience has included being Head of Science at a city academy, lecturing at a university in the USA, tutoring for the Open University since its inception, and teaching in a girls’ school where she encouraged her students to enter the SET arenas.
She has previously served a three-year term as Vice-President (1988-1991), during which time she helped in recruitment and fundraising initiatives. She has been the President of two Local Associations and has served on the Executive Committee including as a Regional Representative. A delegate to many IFUW Conferences, all over the world, she ran a workshop at the 2007 International Meeting. She completed a term as Vice President in July 2011.
In any spare time she enjoys sailing, travelling, theatre and opera.
Vice-Presidents
Rory Haigh BA FETC
Rory, a retired FE lecturer in Business Communication and English, has been a member of BFWG for more than 35 years. As our Public Affairs Consultant for England & Wales, Rory was active in disseminating information to members at the start of the BSE/nvCJD problems; the letter she wrote on behalf of BFWG to the Agriculture Select Committee is in the addenda to their First Report to the Government. She also represented us on the Women’s Health & Screening Delegation to the Minister for Health and was active in the Women, Aids & the Future campaign of the early 1990s. In 2007, while Southern Region Rep, she was an organiser of our Centenary Party and the Jane Austen tour to Winchester and Bath following the IFUW Conference. She has BA Gen. (London) in English, History and Economics from CCAT, now Anglia Ruskin University, at Cambridge. Rory is also Immediate Past President of Winchester Women Graduates.
Gabrielle Suff Staatsexamen (Freiburg University, Germany) PGCE (Heidelberg)
Gabrielle is a retired Further and Higher Education Lecturer and Administrator in Wales. She has been a member of the Swansea Local Association for 30 years and was President twice and until recently Secretary. As a member of the BFWG Executive and CER she was responsible for organising European Days and attended several UWE Conferences, as Regional Rep for Mercia & Wales she organised the annual Regional Meetings. Her chief interests relevant to BFWG are in equal opportunities for women in academic and public life, establishing contacts with policy makers.
Sheila Stevens BSc(Hons) PhD
Sheila is a retired Software Engineer. She is a founder member of the Winchester Association, where she has in the past held the offices of President, Programme Secretary and Treasurer. Currently she is Website Administrator of the BFWG and Sybil Campbell Collection websites. She is also a Trustee and Treasurer of the BFWG Sybil Campbell Collection.
Chair of Finance
Margaret Tait Bsc
Margaret Tait is Chair of the Finance Committee of BFWG having served two terms as a member of the committee. She is a graduate in mathematics and mathematical physics from the University of Edinburgh where she now sits on its governing board, the Court. She has also served on its Finance and General Purposes Committee, Benefactors Committee and on its Risk Management committee.
She has been a member of BFWG for many years having served on its Executive and as its Public Affairs Consultant for Scotland; she was nominated by BFWG and appointed by IFUW to serve on IFUW’s Resolutions Committee and is now Convener of that Committee. She will lead the Resolutions Committee at the forthcoming IFUW Conference in Istanbul in 2013.
Margaret is committed to ensuring that the finances of BFWG are assured; that donations to the Federation are well used to further the aims and purpose of the Federation and that members can be confident that the finances of BFWG are secure.

Marianne Haslegrave MA
Having studied history for her BA and MA degrees, now semi-retired, she still spends part of her time working as the Director of the Commonwealth Medical Trust (Commat) and as a consultant on sexual and reproductive health and the right to health. She also served as a consultant on Partnerships for Sexual and Reproductive Health and the MDGs with the UN Millennium Project and has been a member of UK government delegation at the Fifth Asian Conference on Population in Bangkok in December 2002 and at International Conference on Population and Development in Cairo in 1994.
