In the spirit of friendship…

We offer unique opportunities for effective action, friendship, networking and companionship through meeting lively and like-minded people whose aim is to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide.

We bring women from all generations together – locally, nationally and internationally and our Local Associations offer full monthly programmes of talks, visits to places of interest and social events.  Every other year we hold a seminar at the House of Lords followed by afternoon tea.

We help women worldwide to exercise their right to education and economic independence.

Doctoral student awards were first made in the early years of the organisation and continue today. Through its linked charities, the BFWG Scholarship Trust Fund and Funds for Women Graduates (FfWG), successful applicants are given one-off financial support.

The BFWG Scholarship fund awards for academic excellence (for students in the second half of their doctoral study programme).
FfWG supports on the basis of financial need, including emergency grants for graduates engaged in study or research at an approved institution of higher education in Great Britain.

Both charities fund students of any nationality who are studying at universities in England, Scotland and Wales.

We also hold an annual Research Presentations Day Competition.
