Dr Elizabeth Poskitt

At our BFWG AGM in early July this year we were delighted to present an Honorary Membership to Dr Elizabeth Poskitt.

Elizabeth is a retired paediatrician and worked in the UK (Birmingham, Liverpool) and Africa (Uganda and Gambia) as well as doing various teaching and consultancy trips overseas with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and others.

She lives in Woodstock and is now locally involved as Town Councillor and District Councillor as well as Chair of Friends of the Oxfordshire Museum.

Elizabeth joined the International Federation of University Women - IFUW (now GWI) in 1968 as member of the Ugandan Association of University Women and the British Federation of University Women – BFUW (now BFWG) in 1971.

As IFUW President, she represented IFUW at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. Elizabeth is a very active member of the BFWG running BFWG Research Presentation Days since 2001 and organising BFWG Prizes since 1997. She was BFWG President 1995-98.
