Peace through Education General Assembly, Centenary Celebration and Conference update.
We are pleased to announce that we will be offering a half – day workshop for young members called “Connecting the Power of GWI Young Members” on July 26, 2019.
This preliminary Conference agenda is being sent to National Federations and Associations (NFAs) six months before the date of the General Assembly and Conference.
The GWI Education Committee and VP: Advocacy and Education would like to draw members attention to a new toolkit which has been uploaded onto the GWI website. They plan to use this toolkit at the GA/Conference in July 2019 but in the meantime invite you to look at it, provide us with any comments and further suggestions. Perhaps even other sample lesson plans.
Our CIR, Jenny Morley, recently learned via the CIR of New Zealand, Shirley Gillett, about the treatment of widows in India. The latter had been alerted to the situation by Gomathy Venkateswar who, in July 2012, attended a session of the United Nations in New York as a delegate of Virginia Gildersleeve.
We also know that each NFA has now, or has had in its history, outstanding women who have embodied the mission and vision of IFUW / GWI. We are asking each NFA to tell us about these women by sending us a short profile of no more than 2 outstanding women that we will share in digital format with the GWI family during the 2019 celebratory year. Deadline for final submission: 15 January 2019
