33rd Triennial General Assembly (GA), Centenary Celebration and Conference
We are delighted to inform you that the website for our 33rd Triennial General Assembly (GA), Centenary Celebration and Conference is now online.
We are equally delighted to announce that Grace Hollett, President, Canadian Federation of University Women, Patrice Wellesley Cole, President, British Federation of Women Graduates, and Fay Weber, President Women Graduates – USA have all kindly agreed to serve as Honorary Co-Chairs for our historic Centenary Celebration.
As you recall, the theme of our GA, Centenary Celebration and Conference is Peace through Education and will be held in Geneva, Switzerland from July 25 through July 28, 2019.
Please understand that the website is a work in progress. We have provided as much information as is available right now and will be updating information weekly.
Our intention in providing event and registration information early – nine and a half months before the event – is to hopefully present you with the opportunity to take advantage of a discounted registration fee, low hotels rates, reasonable airline ticket prices and to generally plan your trip in the most cost-effective way possible.
A word about registration and hotel rooms:
- >T>he current “Early Bird” registration fee will be available for a couple of months only, after which there is a substantial increase in the fee.
- Hotel rates are deeply discounted and there is currently a choice of 11 hotels.
- You may also qualify for additional hotel rate discounts from CAGI, an agency of the Swiss government. Terms and Conditions are included on the website.
It is important to note that hotels in Geneva fill up quickly, so we are suggesting that you book your rooms at your earliest. Similarly, if you find that you qualify for a deeper discount with CAGI, it would be important to do it as soon as possible since these are limited and are provided on a “first come, first served” basis.
Please do visit the website as soon as you have a moment. We hope that you will see that we have been working around the clock to plan a very special “Geneva” experience for you to mark this milestone year for GWI. We are looking forward to introducing you to Geneva, important to us on two counts: Because it is our home and because it is the seat of international governance in our global society. We are particularly looking forward to introducing you to International Geneva because it labors tirelessly for the inclusion of human rights advocacy in all multilateral
diplomacy, incredibly important to us because it magnifies our work and outcomes.
We hope to have you meet many of the UN agencies and social and economic justice organizations that comprise International Geneva and who we have invited to participate in our event. We hope that you will be able to develop productive relationships with these organizations.
Let us reiterate our heartfelt invitation. We are really looking forward to seeing you again, to hearing your thoughtful reflections on the development of GWI, the resolutions that you will submit and your presentation of workshops and seminar papers. We have so much to talk about.
Please come. Come to share, learn, celebrate and to collectively forge GWI’s future in an incandescent passion for women’s and girls’ rights.
