Greater London Association Meeting Monday 23rd March

A vibrant meeting of GLAWG (the Greater London Group) took place at The Soroptimist Club on Monday 23rd March 2015. The speaker was Alison Baum, Chief CEO of Best Beginnings, the winner of our Strictly Democracy event last November. Our Immediate Past President Jenny Morley and Vice President Rory Haigh took up our idea of members attending a GLAWG Meeting whilst in London on other business which was excellent. Best Beginnings is a national charity founded in 2006 that works innovatively, from the evidence base and collaboratively to reduce inequalities in child health. Resources include:

In 2007 Alison received the prestigious Sheila McKechnie “Campaigner of the Year Award for her work in creating the Breastfeeding Manifesto Coalition, uniting 40 organisations including five Royal Colleges and UNICEF, to lobby Government to deliver on seven objectives designed to allow women to make fully informed choices about how to feed their babies. In March 2014 Alison was thrilled to be awarded Advocate of the Year by CPHVA. The presentation inspired much productive discussion. Members interacted fully with Alison and were able to share mutual expertise. Attendees were also inspired to both offer and share contacts resulting in a very worthwhile evening for all.
